My big project this year is documenting my sweet girl. This month she’s 3 years and 9 months, or in her words, “It’s taking a long time to be 4.” Little does she know how fast it’s actually going. She’s studying outer space at school and loves letting us know all about it. Like… the planets rotate around the sun, we live in the Milky Way, Uranus rotates on its side because an asteroid hit it, and she gets a little sad talking about how far away the dwarf planet Pluto is from the sun. I swear this age is a riot! She made her own planet at school. She named it after herself. It’s located right next earth, has two rings, it has water and oxygen so we can live on it, and in her exact words, “my planet has all the moons!”
When I asked her if I can take her photos for this project, she enthusiastically agreed. Girl likes photos – can’t say I blame her. She’s just too cute. She even wanted to help me load the film in my camera.
I told her she can pose however she wanted and this was the photo I got…
Here are some of my favorites from the rest of our shoot. So glad I’m doing this project. There are a few photographers doing this project together, so make sure you check my amazing and talented friend Amy in Minneapolis on her blog for another One Roll, One Kid project participant.
…and then I got this one.
